PTO Minutes

Minutes are the official permanent record of the business of our PTO group, and it is the PTO secretary’s job to make sure they are accurate yet concise. Minutes are intended to document the outcome of business decisions, and not every word of discussion leading up to the decision will be recorded.

Join us at 4:00pm for the next PTO meeting in the fall!

Any questions regarding what was discussed at the last PTO meeting should be directed to our PTO secretary, Erin Hartel.

Latest Meeting Notes:

Monday, April 19, 2021 at 4:00pm
  1. Approve last meeting’s minutes – We were unable to do this because the minutes are still being updated.
  2. Principal and Dean reports
    1. Mr. Bagley:
      • The CDC has recently issued a statement recommending schools sit down for two weeks due to the rise in COVID cases.  We are constantly in contact with the Kent County Health Department regarding the # of cases in the community.  WCA has had a low # of kids and families quarantining and the exposure is very low for the school.  The increase in cases are more prevalent amongst high schoolers than with the elementary students.
      • We will still require masks at recess.  With the rise in cases, KCHD is still advising to keep this mandate.
      • Sports should resume April 26.  Swab tests are being done on kids 13 years of age and older.
      • Enrollment numbers look good for fall.  NHA will most likely offer a virtual option for 2021-2022 school year through PrepNet.
      • NHA is updating our playground equipment this fall.
    2. Mrs. Fife
      • There will be a screening event for new Kindergarteners May 11-12 during the school day called Camp Walker (camp theme).
      • Mrs. Huizing will be back April 21st!

    1. 8th grade graduation budget increased to $2500 this year. Next year it will return to $1400.
